EVERY TIME I LAND AT NOTTINGHAM EAST MIDLANDS AIRPORT THERE NEVER APPEAR TO BE ANY TRANSFER VEHICLES READY. ON THE 13TH JANUARY AFTER ARRIVING 15MINUTES EARLY I HAD TO WAIT ON THE AIRCRAFT A FURTHER 10MINUTES TILL THE BUS WAS AVAILABLE. WHEN I ARRIVED AT IMMIGRATION THERE WAS 3 DESKS OPEN TO SERVICE PEOPLE ARRIVING ON 5 DIFFERENT AIRCRAFT. PEOPLE WERE QUEUING OUTSIDE THE IMMIGRATION HALL. FROM ARRIVING AT 23.40, TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE DELAY OF TRANSPORT PLUS THE QUEUE IN IMMIGRATION I FINALLY GOT OUT OF THE AIRPORT AT 01.00. I AM NOW REFUSING TO USE THIS AIRPORT AGAIN UNTIL CHANGES HAVE BEEN MADE.

Dear Mrs Coates,


This is the second time I have used East Midlands Airport in the last couple of months & on both occasions I was appalled by the attitude of your staff. I used the Airport frequently a few years ago & how times have changed.

Your staff are overbearing, unfriendly and do not treat passengers like customers. This attitude does not seem to be isolated to a few individuals, but seems endemic in the majority of cases. My experiences did not unfortunately just apply to myself. I witnessed various examples of poor customer handling, from check-in, through the security proceedures and at the departure gate. This is not acceptable.

I am not a professional complainer, but it gets my back up that these people, in the positions they hold, seek to make passengers feel like small children.

Clearly, they have had little customer handling training.

I am a frequent flyer & generally use Liverpool, John Lennon Airport. The difference in customer handling, efficiency & staff attitudes is remarkable. On a scale of 1 to 10, Liverpool would score 9 and East Midlands a begrudging 2.

I sincerely hope that something can be done to raise your standards to those set by Liverpool, John Lennon.

You even have to BUY (50p!!!) a clear plastic bag for your toothpaste.
Check-in staff: "now you must join the queue, I hope you make it in time".
