Then had to queue for 1 hour and 15 minutes to get through security. Now I totally understand that these checks have to take place, and am glad that they are thorough. But what angers me is when you have one x ray machine and one member of staff in use for one very very long queue, in probably Heathrow's busiest terminal. To make matters worse the staff member was more interested in making conversation and jokes with her colleagues who were just stood around her. Why not open up one of the other xray machines and put the staff to use? After getting through the xray machine, we were then made to wait a further 15 minutes to get bag searched, as again only one person was doing the checks. When we finally got through, passport control said we had had it easy, as their had been queues of over 2 hours earlier in the afternoon. Frustrating and ridiculous. | | ............................................................................................................................................................................................. |
| | | | | Posted on 17 July 2007 09:13 | | | I dropped Australia Relatives off at Heathrow on Sunday evening. The traffic was horrendous took an hour to get off the short stay carpark at Terminal 3. That coupled with a very long walk from the Car Park didn't help. The car parks were virtually all full when we finally got into one. Just seemed like too many flights all going out at once - the barriers around the terminal and the building works mean you have to walk twice as far with no warning for those with disabilities. Absolute chaos - I have never seen an airport in such a mess. Thankfully their check-in went smoothly with Malaysian Airlines and they had no time waiting in queues.
On leaving the airport we noticed that there was no traffic hold ups coming into the airport. So perhaps they should space out flights a little better to stop the rush.

| | | | | Posted on 16 July 2007 23:55 | | | Where do I start? Firstly, we are delayed leaving Manchester because some baggage handler is having a hard time with som live animal that is being transported int he hold of the BA flight. this delays us taking off by around 40 minutes, then when we come to land at Heathrow we have to wait, circling above London for our slot (a now regular occurence). We have a connection to Los Angeles which is departing within about 30 miniyes from the time we land (we being my wife, 2 children - 2 and 4 yrs old - and myself). We are in the last row of the plan from Manchester and have made our cabin crew aware of the minimal transfer time we were now going to get. We are told that we have been removed from the onward flight and that someone will be able to help us at the top of the airbridge - no one is there. As I know where we are going I get the family to run through Terminal 1 to be greeted by a retarded Security man who did not seem to be able to add up. We were 4 people travelling as a family but the BA system had not allowed my to check my kids in online, therefore my wife and I had paper boarding cards (print at home style) an my kids had 'official' airport provided boarding cards. The security guard kept telling me we had 2 tickets and 2 boarding cards, ater a few minutes of arguing that there were 4 boaring cards, 4 seat numbers and 4 people travelling we basically grabbed the boarding cards and walked passed him. As this had delayed us further we asked the Connections Centre to check with the gate to see if we were still able to make the flght, they told us that we had been taken off the original flight and booked on the later one - 4 hours later! I aked them to check with the gate to see if we coudl still make it but they still told me that we had been rebooked on the later flight.
When we recieved the new boarding cards I took the family to where our gate was and found that the gate agents had not taken us off until th last minute. They had seen that I was a gold card member with BA and expected us to make it. It seems the Connection Centre agent had not really called the gate otherwise she would have known that we could have made it.
So a 4 hour wait in Heathrow qwith 2 small kids and then the flight to Los Angeles was delayed after we boarded it.
When we returned we had a similar tale - maybe some other time.
BA reckon they can put it all right by awarding s 5000 BA miles. Have you ever tried spending these? | | ............................................................................................................................................................................................. |
