Outbound: Check-in and Security very quick as it was an early flight.

Inbound: Landed at Luton 23.15. Ten minutes to disembark and walk to Immigration. Only three immigration desks were open and one of those was dealing with non-UK passport holders. With other flights landing around the same time, joined an already long queue. It took until approx 00.15 to get through to baggage reclaim, by which time the belt was overflowing and cases were being pushed onto the floor.

Much frustration in the queue......surely there must be a more efficient way of dealing with UK citizens returning home from a trip.

We regularly use Luton and are always impressed at the lack of delays.

have to say had a terrific experience at Luton - no delays returning home perhaps because we were sat near front of plane. R Siddall - Berkhamstead

Hubby Dereck and I got a fab deal with Monarch. So having visited our daughter in Milton Keynes we flew out of cold and wet UK from Luton to sunny-ish Spain. Ideal as we live near Cannock halfway and a cracking deal to be able to return to Manchester late thurs 03 Jan.

Fabulous time with our son in Spain having had a well deserved break if you know what I mean. Good value flights. Comfy seats more than we bargained for.

Here is where our night mare begins...

Inspite of arriving in Manchester roughly on time we were forced into a small space like cooped up chickens to queue with people travelling in from all over - Portugal, Germany to name a few places. Some people had to queue on what I know now as a travelator which was tricky at the least and dangerous at the most, and I could see people queuing down a set of stairs from what I assumed was another flight. It was like being on the underground - dark, creepy, claustrophobic and teeming.

We shuffled along bit by bit and after 30 minutes reached a sign saying we would only have to wait 15 minutes. I checked my watch - we got through to our bags after another 40 minutes. A porky. No doubt the answer would be "it was moved for cleaning".

I have read all the previous comments about Manchester Airport. Its sad and depressing. I hope the Managers of Immigration and the airport are taking note:

I resent my husband who has osteoporosis having to stand about waiting to come home. I resent having to force my other son to wait in a shoddy airport paying more in parking charges. Our only consolation was to join the Retina scan- but there was no facility at Luton.

Do not get me wrong. Checks need to be done. I am intelligent to know that the people on the ground were not to blame - but some one is. I wonder who?

Whoever he or she is - mark my words you are accountable and heaven forbid a major calamity occuring - you are in the firing line.

No queues, no stress - a very pleasant experience. The return flight landed early too.
