Stansted arrivals is a shambles. We arrived from Rome at midnight, and queued from the second we left the plane through immigration. Awful experience that lasted close to 90 minutes. People resorted to push and barging fellow passengers because they were so desperate to escape the confines of the corridor, where we'd been shuffling forward only a few inches every 15 minutes. Felt like a third world country. Disgusting way to treat peole, and don't try to blame the increased security checks either. Invest more of those profits into better serving your passengers. BBA should be hang its head in shame.

Passengers were stopped and made to wait in the corridors several times on the way from aircraft to "Border Control". We then had to listen to the waffle announement "TO ASSIST THE IMMIGRATION PROCESS PASSENGERS MAY HAVE TO WAIT IN THIS LOCATION". The desks were not fully manned. Just what you need at Midnight.

Online check-in. Queues several yards long outside the boarding card/hand baggage check at security, but queues for x-ray machines reasonably well managed. eg initially was in queue where only one of two machines was open, but was moved to neighbouring queue with two. And second machine in original queue later opened.
Immigration queue on inbound flight at 2300 long but moved fairly quickly, all desks open

On arrival we were kept in the non air-conditioned corridors and security staff were allowing 30 pax to pass through to the immigration hall at a time.
People were becoming faint, claustraphobic and unable to use the toilets as these were not available. On arrival at the passport check, there were 17 desks, of which half were non- EU. At least 80% of pax were EU. Surely the staff are trained for both and additional EU desks should be made available when necessary.

Fortunately the outside temperature was cool, but when my daughter made the same journey in August, people felt they were suffocating in those same corridors. This is not a one off situation. BAA should have improved this by now, but all they have done is printed signs and installed a sound system to make excuses.

like previous comments: we started queueing the moment we disembarked the plane, and it took 1h to clear immigration, on a sunday night between 12am and 1am. Appalling!

No problems with the flight Ryanair were on time in both directions but arrival back into Stansted at midnight was ridiculous. We queued from the moment we entered the terminal building right through to passport control. They need more desks and staff, one immigration lady told me it's like that every night! Why don't they install Iris too, that would alleviate some of the crowds. They can't just keep saying it's like this...we're the ones who suffer and it is absolutely unacceptable.
