Airport Disruptions
Travel Counsellors UK

How the Site Works

Explaining the league table
The league table is a summary of all the reported airport delays. The airports that appear on the table are those that have received data from passengers. The number of passengers that have posted data for each airport is also shown.
The airports that appear in red have a reported average of over 15 minutes of delays in each category. These are delays that are deemed unacceptable. The airports that appear in green have delays below this threshold.

Explaining the feedback
The intention of the website is not to show a mean average, as the nature of the site will attract customers who feel that the wait is unreasonable. However the airports measure an average delay and we believe that in the customer service arena the yardstick should always be maximum wait times, not average.

Explaining how the data is calculated

The delay for an airport is calculated from each individual experience. A particular experience is weighted according to the date of travel, so that it devalues by 50% every two weeks. This ensures that old data is not considered equal to new data. We realise airports can improve waiting times and in this way we ensure that the site will reflect these improvements as new data is added.

As most travellers will not submit their experiences till they return from holiday, daily variances will not show up, however clicking on an airport will display the history of it’s delays and how they have changed over the last two months.
