WE HAD A WHEELCHAIR USER AS PART OF OUR PARTY OF 6. AN EXCELLENT OUTBOUND FLIGHT BUT MAJOR DIFFICULTIES OF RETURN JOURNEY.

PRE BOOKED SEATS PROVED UNSUITABLE AS THEY WERE AT EMERGENCY EXIT DOORS. FLIGHT STAFF WERE UNHELPFUL INITIALLY AND ONLY THROUGH INTERVENTION BY LOCAL AMERICAN WORKERS PRESENT TO TRANSFER PERSON ON PLANE RESOLVED THE SITUATION, RESULTING IN OUR PARTY OF SIX HAVING TO SIT AT DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE PLANE. DISABLED PERSON FOUND STAFF TO BE PATRONISING AND SAME PERSON AND HIS COMPANION WERE ALSO PASSED OVER FOR REFRESHMENTS DURING FLIGHT.

we purchased easyjet speedy boarding at both ends, helped us jump the queue. only problem was that the aircraft was on a remote stand so we were on a transfer bus with all the other passengers and given no priority for actually boarding the aircraft. we also purchased fast lane security tickets, well worth the couple of quid.
we were the only flight in the immigration arrivals hall on our return and proceeded through passport control promptly. bags were on the carousel within about 5 mins of clearing passport control.
all in all a very positive experience at liverpool!

Saturday 28 June 2008

What an appalling to-do when we arrived back at Manchester Airport.

We touched down at 2.55 pm to be met at terminal three to be sat on an aircraft for more than 30 minutes to then be put on a bus to collect our bags.

No sympathy for anyone. My husband has high blood pressure and diabetes. We got off the bus to make our way into the building.

We waited and waited and waited for our bags to be told by an airport manager that we had been dropped off at the domestic arrivals baggage hall.

There was a lot of whispering and what appeared to be counting of passengers as we had not got through passport control. I saw people who could not be bothered to wait as they had no bags to collect leave through the doors as the airport staff tried to get everyone to make their way to passport control whereever that was.

We were taken up to passport control and properly processed hoping our bags would be ready.

No not at all - it was another 60 minute wait.

There was no one from Easyjet to apologise or explain. In fact a cleaner explained that it wasnt the first time there had been a botch up and for international flights to be sent into the domestic arrivals.

We then missed our flight to Belfast.

How embarrassing!

My husband was distressed at it all particularly the delay and the fact that people got in without being seen.

We have written to our MP to complain.

No problems on departure (just after lunchtime) or return (early evening). The luggage appeared on the carousel quickly (within 10 minutes) on return.
Still the nonsense with the pathetically brief free drop-off time in the car park. Oh, and by the way, Newcastle Airport, please don't replace any more of the seating in the departure area with shops/bars/other retail opportunities. I go to airports simply to fly out of them, not to waste money in overpriced shops.

The return journey from Palma was a different story. The check in desk did not open on time, consequently it gave us little time to get to the boarding gate. A huge queue formed and the airport staff said that the airline would only pay for two check-in desks when there should have been three.

Awful experience at Manchester

2 hours to get back in to the UK at passport control!

My poor back!

Rang to complain and get an explanation and ending up speaking to a somewhat evasive, shifty, patronising and uncooperative senior manager
