What travellers had to say about Gatwick Airport

We took advantage of checking bags in the day before travel, so the only delay was getting through security which had two desks only open. On our return on the 31 August the delay to pass through passport control was 50 minutes with the queue snaking back throught the airport. Why is iris not available to be signed up for outside of the deppaarture lounge and open more sensible hours.

Easyjet check-in assistants very swift and no queues whatsoever, but the queue for security ridiculous, there was no sense of organisation and the woman directing people to different lanes was perticuarly rude and inapropriate in the way she was behaving as though we should know what we were doing. Appaling

Secondly, following the inbound flight landing at 04:00 I was shocked to see a huge queue just to show that I belong to this country, it was like being interrogated.

From internet check-in, day before bag check, it was a dream. The security queues at 06.00 were short and I was in the lounge in minutes. Well done BA & BAA

Although all possible desks seemed to be open - there was no clear message(s) for clients for what was needed so all was told to take off shoes/belts/empty pockets/take off coats etc etc that took time as every passenger had to be told - very slow and the staff all looked as if they would rather be elsewhere with eome talking to each other, chewing gum, etc and not making the effort to clear passengers quicker

Took a couple of minutes to check in, but it took us 2 hours to go through security. It was an absolute nightmare, and air hostesses from different airlines kept having to search the queue for people who would otherwise have missed their flights. NOT GOOD!

They make you feel like the lowest of the low. There is no respect. You are not treated as a valued customer. They herd you around like cattle and really couldn't care less. It is hardly surprising that people get angry - even the most casual student of psychology would recognise that if you speak to someone as you would a child then you'll get the same reaction back.
