I had the same problem this year as I had last december on arriving back in the UK at Gatwick in the early morning ie 0100. We had to wait 1:45mins for our luggage to come through.

Baggage Handling at LGW a nightmare . It took them an hour to get bags onto a belt. My case is still in Dubai ( mon 7th 8pm)but I wasnt told until the belt was allocated !!

Checked in online with EasyJet.
Straight through security no waiting - great. First time for a long time, but who are these people in the yellow shirts at the start of security at South Terminal - Gatwick. Customer Service skills? I question whether some of them could spell it. Is this the finest our nation can find to be the face of international travel via one of the major cities of the world? Answers on a postcard.

Called to EasyJet gate. Every week queue for about 12-15 mins just to get in the gate.

Forget buying 'Speedy Boarding' - complete waste of time and money. Every week I see stressed passengers caught at the back of the gate queue trying to get passed the BAA Domestic photo scanner and into the gate. Here's a tip. Get on the plane, walk right to the back, and sit down. It is always empty.

Have moved my weekly travel bookings to BA after Christmas. Sorry EasyJet - get your act together at the gate.

Checked in online with BA, so went to bag drop, which actually had more people q'ing than normal check in!!

It was a domestic flight, so no immigration to contend with.

The security process at Gatwick must be the worst in the world. There is hardly any attempt to demarcate queues in the run-up to the desk where boarding passes are first checked. Once you have managed to fight your way through those queues, you then have to - literally - fight your way into the queue for the scanners. If you get through the far left entrance, you have all the other people pushing from the right. If you get through the far right entrance, you have to contend with everyone pushing in from the doors as you go past them. The queue I was directed to for the scanner machine DID NOT MOVE FOR 20 MINUTES. I had to push my way into another queue to avoid missing my flight. There is no infomation, no crowd control, no politeness, and everything is controlled by the fact that everyone knows that if they make a fuss their lives will be made hell. Many elderly people that I watched really, really struggled to stand for the hour plus required by this process, and no attempt was made to help them at all.
