What travellers had to say about Heathrow Airport

I am a reasonably regular leisure traveller, and have just returned from Buenos Aires. I passed through airports at Newcastle, Heathrow, Madrid, both the domestic and international airports at Buenos Aires, as well as Bariloche. I have to say that Heathrow is by far the worst of all those in terms of its security arrangements. Have you seen the Flight Connections centre there lately? It is gridlocked chaos. They even have escalators closed off with ropes, so that they can control the flow of passengers into the Flight Connections centre. Whatever must foreign visitors to our country think? To see our flagship airport put to shame by airports in what one might call the Second World is nothing short of an embarrassment. Madrid Barajas is a wonderful example of what LHR should be, and we can only hope that BAA's new owners take a vaery close look at what needs to be done to bring LHR up to that standard.

I can't pretend that I was delayed, as I had a long connection time, but had that connection been shorter, then I would have been worried about catching my onward flight. Surely, it does not have to be like this?
Nigel Atkinson.

I went to the trouble of registering for Iris recognition but so far have never found it to be working?? The latest time it was out of order was Heathrow T 2 on the 22/8, the immigration officer said it seldom worked !!

I work with the Ministry of Defence and understand the need for security but only 2 X-ray areas were open out of 6 on a busy night. In addition at least 3 staff were openly standing around talking. They could have manned another gate or been out of sight. The previous night we were told by airport staff that the wait had been 2.5 hours. we have had plenty of time to sort this out.

We transited in LHR on a route which started in Zurich and ended in Hong Kong. We arrived on BA/T4 and connected onto a CX/T3 flight. The arrival of the BA flight was in a off-peak time at 4pm. In T3 only one team with one security line was opened and we hardly could get out of the elevator as so many PAX were standing in line (around 2 busses). Once again long wiating times for nothing at the security control...
