What travellers had to say about Liverpool Airport

This was my second flight to Inverness in July. Slightly longer at check-in as there was a small problem with baggage labels by Servisait staff. This flight a bit later than the early morning peak so I judged that there would be no queues at security so Fast Lane not used. I guessed right. This airport is easy to negotiate in comparison with others I have used in the last 2 or 3 years.

Inverness flight - no delays whatsoever. Flight was after morning peak so Fast Lane not used. I would willingly pay £2 had my flight been during the early morning peak.

Travelled out of Liverpool yesterday with EZY. This Fast Lane thing is excellent. There was a bit of a queue at security when I got there but nothing major. Even so, I was in a hurry to catch my flight so used the £2 Fast Lane. What a fantastic idea. NO QUEUE at all for me and straight through to board my flight. Shame the folks down the M62 haven't got the same thing. Manchester queues were awful last time I went from there

I entirely agree with J Smith's comments and can't understand what others on this site are complaining about. I and many work colleagues pass through Liverpool a lot and we all do so because its so easy to get through. There are rarely big queues at security but when there are this Fast Lane scheme is great. Its the best £2 I've spent and meant I could relax in the departure lounge rather than wasting time queuing up. I even spotted former Liverpool FC star John Aldridge using it the other day. I read in the local paper that the Airport put this system in because many passengers including John Aldridge were fed up with waiting in queues (though they're rarely very long) and had actually asked for something like this. It also said that because the costs for them to operate security have increased massively in recent years any money from this Fast Lane scheme will go straight back to making further improvements and keep queuing times down. Well done I say and if you don't want to pay just £2, then don't.

Don't believe some of the stats shown for Liverpool Airport on this site. I use the airport regularly and this new optional security charge has had no real effect on the security queue for non-payers. Liverpool is one of the fastest when it comes to security. There are queues at peak times, but no more than 20 mins max, which compared to other airports is nothing. However if you don't want to wait that long then at least at Liverpool they give you the option not to, by having this inovative Fast Lane system. I mean £2 is nothing. i haven't needed to use it, but often see families paying for it and overheard others on my flights saying what a great scheme it is. Its a pity other airports don't tackle the problem like Liverpool has.

Liverpool Airport suffers from long queues and delays to get through security checks. They have now brought in a £2 'Fastlane' system, which charges passengers to fasttrack through these queues. This 'stealth' charge penalises those who do not want to pay and, through fear of missing their flight, forces people into paying for a service that should be provided for free and at sufficient speed.
