What travellers had to say about London City Airport

we experienced serious delays due to cancellation of our flight from LHR to Singapore on Sat 15th Dec 07. this was due to a technical fault, not airport problems. we flew with Singapore Airlines from LHR through Singapore to Sydney & therefore missed the connection too, arriving in Sydney 28 hours late. SA could not have done more to look after us. Whilst it was quite a serious delay, they arranged for hotels, transport, meals etc etc. A technical fault is really beyond the control of airport staff, & I think we all agreed that we'd rather they fixed the problem than take the chance & us suffer the unthinkable circumstances.

we experienced poor check-in procedures at Sydney if that is of any use to your survey.

long and slow queue by LCY standards at the check-in desk. Not so impressed. LCY is usually much better than this.

London City Airport is unquestionably the best route out of the capital. Security is a breeze compared to Heathrow. On some flights you can reliably arrive less than 30 minutes before the flight departs, and have a relaxed walk through security (which normally does not have more than a 2 minute queue) to the plane.

Check-in for BA was smooth, staff were helpful.

Security was the worst part of my experience. The staff looked as if they did not know what they were doing, not only that they were chatting amongst themselves which made things slower.

flew out of City, am refugee from heathrow since December as simply could not take it any more. what no one seems to register is that BA is the main culprit with problems from heathrow. t he delay is 80% at checkin at least and most desks at T1 and T4 are BA desks. T2 has delays but less chaotic than T4 in particular. reporting on return to Heathrow separately - had been openjawing out of City and back to heathrow as I live very near heathrow, but now am deserting heathrow for landings too based on experience which i will report separately.
