What travellers had to say about Luton Airport

1. Ryanair opertes 2 desks per flight at LTN, so I turn up no earlier than 75 minutes before departure, so the earlybirds have all checked in.

2. Security - no problem, but the key time at LTN is around 7am. I passed through at around 0530.

3. Immigration at LTN. Arrived back at 2359hrs, so after the peak. But adequately staffed so only a short delay was incurred.

Flew out of LTN Fri AM 09:40 departure. Online check in, no security queue. Returned at 18:00, first off plane, no bags, no queue at immigration (3 desks open)

I have used Luton airport several times during the past 3 years, usually travelling with Easyjet. Check-in typically takes 10-15 minutes, and security rarely more than 10 minutes. Immigration queues can be long, if 2 or 3 flights have arrived within a few minutes of each other, but move quickly so the process rarely takes more than 10 minutes for an EU citizen.

Arrived at the airport nearly 3 hours before departure for EasyJet flight to Palma. Airport was in total chaos with horrific queues to Easy Jet check in desks snaking around the airport. Nearly missed our flight as we were still in the same queue 2.5 hours later! Worst check in experience at an airport in 15 years of flying.

I flew from Luton to Zagreb with Wizz Air and returned a few days later. Luton Airport was hassle free and even though there were small queues at check-in and Security I was air-side within 20 minutes of reaching the airport. On the down side I returned mid afternoon from Zagreb just after 4 other flights so the Immigration queue was long (Approx 400 people) but there were 10 Immigration staff working so I was through within 20 minutes.

We recently travelled to Inverness via Luton Airport and for the first time took advantage of the check in online facility. It was truly wonderful. We sashayed in, straight through to security which although had a queue (unlike Stanstead) moved really quickly and before we knew it we were airside.

Having regularly travelled from Luton to both Scotland and Ireland over the last ten years +, we continue to be impressed with how much it has grown and how sleek and organised it is.

Unlike the other London Airports, it makes air travel a pleasure.
