We have travelled with Virgin Atlantic from Manchester on many occasions over the years usually to Orlando.
We believe that on this occation Manchester Airport did Virgin Atlantic no favours whatsoever, We were never given any expilnation as to why it was that (unlike all other years)we were Bused to the Aircraft, instead of simply walking along the concourse, and down the ramp on to the plane, also the amount of stairs that had to be climbed made life difficult for the elderly, and for parents with young chidren, and there were many of these at this time of the year. In all I would say it caused a delay of about one hour.
With out doubt the worst part was arriving at Manchester from Florida to find that once again we had to go through the busing rigmarole, let me explain we arrived at Manchester at about 7.50,we could'nt get off the plane as someone had forgotten to bring the stairs (honest) it took about 20mins to start the disembarcation. We were fortunate that we were at the front of the plane seats30JK what time it was by the time the last passengers got off the plane I could'nt even begin to imagine. The bagage carousel kept stopping because people who were still on the plan were not taking off the baggage as a concequence the belt became overlaoded and therefore stopped, the baggage handlers did'nt seem to have the will or savvy to take any off the bags off to make the load lighter it was bedlam. we did not get out of the airport untill 10.30. I would like to make the point that Manchester Airport are doing Virgin Atlantic who I would consider to be one of Manchester Airport's premier airlines a great diservice by making there passengers use what I would describe as outdated methods of getting on to aircraft, whilst every other small airline had there aircraft lined up outside the terminal building using up the walk ways into the terminal, it seemed incredible that a jumbo jet had to taxi way outside the terminal then have its passengers bussed to the oposite end of the terminal to finally have to walk bach three quaters of the distance back again th get through passport control. Until this unholy mess is rectified I will not be using Manchester Airport

Departed Manchester via a terminal that looked like a rabbit burrow.

Made to fit in to a glitzy claustrophobic Duty Free Shop with everyone else.

Arrived back to long queues at manchester at passport control then to at least 2 inches of water seaping in from outside

Diabolical wait at Manchester Airport

Queues everywhere. Forced to go through a duty free area. We were treated like sheep.

Ordeal on return. Queues to come back in at passport control.

Tannoy announcements assuring us of all available staff deployed.

What is it going to be like in the summer?

Appalling queue getting through UK passport control at Manchester aside from the fact the walkways were not working.
Place teeming with passengers. No toilets in use. Complained to an unhelpful duty manager as there was no warning of this after arrival.

Manchester Airport is appalling.
Queues everywhere

Long, long queue for check in which was very, very slow and the pre-booked seats were not available although they had been booked for 6 months. By the time we got checked in, been through security and queued for a further 20 minutes to go tho the loo in departures, we had to rush to avoid missing the 'plane.

Qatar Airways a five star airline - not at check in!
