It was chaos in Manchester on 31st December. Thomson seem to have adopted a 1 for all chech in which we stood in for 11/2 hours having to be called out because the last check in time for flight had passed. I think it was easier to have a check in for each flight.

The delays at immigration was 60 minutes but most annoying was that the baggage took a further 40 minutes to arrive at the collection area. That meant it took nearly 2 hours for the baggage to arrive after tha plane landed.
We travel around the world regularly and find Manchester the worst airport for baggage handling anywhere in the world.

10 mins to wait for steps to disembark.
5- 10 min walk.
40min at least to pass through immigration , they were short of staff;they made us form two queues that joined 1/2 way and that caused ruptions! When we got to 'bags' they were late but not as late as the rest of the passengers and the bags all piled up and the few passenger around had to go onto the carousel to sort them out!.
The time before this we were pushed , literally to the back of the queue by PIA passengers with customs - 'looking on'.
(flights back from Canaries) I am a English working Taxpayer.

The main objection at Manchester is the arrangement whereby mini busses dropping passengers off for any terminal have to use the bus station. The distance to Terminal 3 is terrible with luggage etc. Also pick up at T2 is in a field which has been made to look like a car park. Not too bad in the summer but awful in winter

One flight inbound from Malaga about 180 passengers we joined the queue from about middle of passengers embarking and it took 30 minutes to clear passport control. We were more fortunate than passengers in non eu passengers in adjoining queue. It seemed to be a flight in from Pakistan, there was something like 60/80 passengers still waiting, only one passport control operative and each individual passenger being very carefully scrutinised. The number of meeters and greeters waiting for these passengers effectively blocked the access to arrivals hall. We had to weave our way through this heaving mass
