| | Posted on 02 August 2007 10:33 | | | over 2 hrs to get through check in and security for a 55 min flight to Kerry, Eire from Stansted
We have a 4yr old and a 4mth old who luckily were pretty well behaved for the 2 hr wait that day
What i can't understand is why approx 3 or 4 security machines/lanes were unmanned?
I think the British airport authorities (particularly in relation to Stansted and Heathrow which i use most often unfortunately) treat the travelling public with contempt and total disrespect and the situation needs to be addressed

We and hundreds of other passengers were herded like cattle slowly through the lounges and walkways until finally being permitted upstairs to UK Border. Only 8 countres were seen operating at one time. BAA customer services were unapologetic and very defensive saying it was due to the busy period. All they were missing were cattle prods. | | ............................................................................................................................................................................................. |

Trouble is these passengers slow us all down, why would you have travelwash is your handluggage?. Its not as if there is not enough information or people to tell you.
Air berlin/easy jet check in is always quick, will always try not use ryan air as they still use paper sheets to check in so their other staff can't check you in. Immigration has become a problem in the last year but the queue always move. Have noticed that the terminal is being extended and I asked one of the ladies at the shopping collection area(marvelous service) about this and she said it would be open in the first part of next year which will be good as long as the immigration agency or whatever it is called now do their bit and get more staff to fill it up.
It would be good to see some positives as well as negatives on this site. As I travel regulary I can see when things are being done and improvements are made. One thing I did notice from yesterday was that evrything was looking alot cleaner, when i flew last week there were lots of painters around as you come through from the new bus and coach station. | | ............................................................................................................................................................................................. |

However, I find it rather irrational that security is so tight before entering the departure lounge and that when you are in the departure lounge you can buy almost anything incl. glass bottles etc. It seems like it's jsut a scheme to make us spend more money on drinks and food in the departure lounge. | | ............................................................................................................................................................................................. |

It took me about an hour to get through and my friend who has a New Zealand passport about an a hour and a half to get through | | ............................................................................................................................................................................................. |

| | Posted on 20 July 2007 16:10 | | | I flew with hand luggage only with ryanair so had no check in luggage. However it took over an hour to clear the passport control checks, mainly due to lack of staff, whilst waiting for my hand lyggage to be searched, 4 staff went off duty and were not replaced for about 10 minutes, leaving many of us waiting to have our luggage randomly searched!! Appalling service. Many many people were desperate to get through as last calls for their flights were made. If I had to q to check in for the average 45 mins, I would not have made it to the gate, allowing the 2 hours recommended by the airlines.
