Travelling back to Spain on the above date, we were prepared for delays which I feel were necessary due to problems in the UK at the time.Having said that I was disgusted at the security to have my handbag searched and a full lighter with fluid in returned to my bag and a lipstick confiscated?????????
Also from the hand luggage case a plastic bottle (SEALED) of salad cream from M&S removed. The security man who removed the lipstick was more interested in telling me he bought his wife a Mulberry wallet like the one I carried as he can get everything DUTY FREE!!!! I was told I could go back and get clear plastic bags, but didn't have time to queue again as had already been queuing for approx 40mins. Nobody was informed about picking up these from the check-in!!!!! Disgusting.

Getting through security at Stansted and Manchester recently seems to be getting worse. On average on my last few trips at Manchester and Stansted airports it takes about 40-60 minutes to get through security! I would be interested in finding out how this has affcted the sales of the shops in duty-free as surely these problems leave less time for passengers to shop around (not that I am concerned about their sales figures! but surely they too must be affected and should be applying pressure to get this issue resolved...?)
